    Studies have shown that living near golf courses is significantly associated with an increased risk of Parkinson’s disease (PD). Specifically, the closer individuals reside to a golf course, the higher their risk, with the strongest association observed within 1–3 miles, and the risk gradually decreases with increasing distance.
    Residents living in water service areas that include golf courses have nearly twice the risk of PD compared to those in areas without golf courses; this association is even stronger in regions with vulnerable groundwater. These findings suggest that pesticides used on golf courses may lead to exposure through drinking water, representing an important potential factor contributing to the elevated PD risk among nearby residents.
